Yes: Menus should display nutritional information

Mandating franchise restaurants to display nutritional information on their menus will help consumers to be more health conscious of what they eat and reduce obesity-related illnesses. Gov. Arnold Shwarzenegger signed the Senate Bill 1420, which will require all franchised restaurants in California to display total number of calories, grams of saturated fat, trans fat, carbohydrates and milligrams of sodium by 2011.

Homecoming

Moving off to college means creating new experiences and traditions. One event, however, has been carried over for EC students: the homecoming dance. This year's theme revolves around Hollywood and all the implications of dreams, power and fortune that come with it.

Posting charts of nutrition information in restaurants is unnecessary and would only burden restaurants and customers. Calories come from all sorts of different nutrients and some foods are worth the extra calories because the oils and fats (such as those in nuts and fish) are beneficial.

The cityscape all around is in shambles. There is no way to communicate with anyone as cell phones keep failing to complete calls. Everyone loses a signal and there are no signs of medical aid anywhere. This is what Californians could potentially see in the event of a major earthquake.

The hope of using such a generalized theme is to generate some excitement to be part of an elite community and to have a taste of the high life.

Ashley Dester is the president of the Future Educators Cub. What is the Future Educators Club? It's a club whose motivation is (to) generally build better teachers and help students who may be interested in teaching reach their goals to become a teacher. The club is for anybody seeking a profession in the education system which includes teachers, librarians, school psychologists and provides them with necessary information.
