Volleyball team out of playoff picture
Disappointment: Injuries, inconsistency and ineligibility contribute to losing season

A bounce here or there, and things could have been different for the men's volleyball team. But as it stands now, the Warriors are at the bottom of the South Coast Conference.
"We have been competitive in every conference match that we've lost this year," coach LeValley Pattison said. "We seem to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in almost every match that we lose."
Inconsistency, injuries and ineligiblity have led to a disappointing season for the Warriors who find themselves without a chance to make the playoffs.
Add to that, the Warriors play in one of the hardest conferences in the state Any team able to advance into the playoffs is considered a favorite to win. The conference includes Pierce College, which has won the state championship four years in a row.
Over spring break, the men split their two matches. They beat Santa Monica in five games (30-23, 30-23, 30-28, 30-25, 15-8) which gave them a season sweep and their only conference wins this year.
Against Santa Monica, the Warriors put up a strong effort to walk away with the victory.
Led by Rob Curran with 18 kills and seven blocks. Logan Johnson contributed heavily to the Warriors victory with 23 assists and six blocks.
"We moved Logan to setter, which has been good for us. It has opened a lot of things for Rob who has just been outstanding," Pattison said.
Johnson and Curan have been strong contributors for the Warriors for much of the season. The two have lead the Warrriors in kills for much of the seaso, but it wasn't enough to win more games.
"I like my new position. It's where I played in high school and I seem to be more of an asset to the team," Johnson said. "If I get to keep playing at another school, it is the position I will play."
Their game against Moorepark didn't fair as well as their game against Santa Monica.
Against Moorpark, the Warriors took the Raiders to the limit, but ended up losing in three games (30-28, 30-28, 30-28).
