Celebrities are people too, so they should be shown respect and consideration

Sometimes the public forgets that celebrities and athletes are people, too.

It's one thing if they were politicians, who try to lead the city, state or nation; but they're not. They're simply in the public eye because of their talent or skill.

The public adores and looks up to famous people for their talent in music, acting or in the sport they play.

Celebrities and athletes become famous because people buy their music or pay to see their movies and games.

Some people say celebrities have a responsibility to society.

It is not to say celebrities and athletes don't have a responsibility to society; like every person in society, they do.

Athletes should not do illegal drugs because they represent a sport and to do well in sports a person must be physically fit.

When a celebrity or an athlete decides to be a spokesperson for a company, then they have a responsibility to that company.

If a celebrity or an athlete represents Pepsi, they shouldn't be caught drinking Coke; if they are a member of the organization, PETA (People for the Ethnical Treatment of Animals), then they shouldn't be walking around in a real fur coat or own a leopard-skin rug.

However, no one decides to be a role model; role models are chosen. It's up to a person to decide whom they want to look up to.

When to comes to children parents often say celebrities are supposed to be role models for their kids. However, parents need to have control over what their child watches or what type of music they listen to.

But because celebrities have become part of the public eye, their every move seems to be examined under a tiny microscopic lens.

People see and hear about what celebrities do in their lives and the public begins to hold them up to a different level than the average Joe or Jane on the street.

This is especially true for those who become famous young and grow up in front of the public eye; the world gets to watch them grow up.
