Students artists present exhibits in various South Bay venues

Prints of skulls line one wall. On another hangs a mixed media painting of a flower surrounded by candy wrappers. In the middle of the room sits a giant sculpture, an abstract, metallic gold mangle of curves. Not bad for a bunch of up-and-coming student artists.

Poet expresses emotions in a language inherently his own

Instead of expressing his anger or feelings physically, Luis Portilla, 20, releases his emotions by writing Spanish poetry. "I write out my feelings because I cannot really express them to others," Portilla said. "The feelings are not always about love; they can be about anger or any emotion.
