From the classroom to the stage, Concert Dance Ensemble takes students through the process of producing a dance show in a short, intensive nine-week period. "Concert Dance Ensemble is a beginning and intermediate production class that happens every spring," director Bernice Boseman said.
"Take a seat and push my button." "Pat My Fur." "Stroke my Strings." "Take a walk through me." Each of these unusual commands sits next to an artist's piece in the "Touch Me" exhibit going on until May 21 at Gallery C in Hermosa Beach. The exhibit of tactile art, or art that can be touched and interacted with in various ways, is in keeping with the gallery's aim to make art more accessible to and enjoyable for everyone.
Sakura Arimura first came to the college three years ago after obtaining a visa so she could leave Japan to study overseas. She signed up for a beginning dance class to satiate an unfulfilled childhood desire. Thus began a route that she had never planned for.
Evening of jazz filled with Fahn Hailed as "one of the few genuine virtuoso performers on the valve trombone" by The Los Angeles Times, Mike Fahn will be performing at the Campus Theatre with the Mike Fahn Jazz Quartet. Fahn has played with some of the greatest jazz bands, including Louis Bellson, Maynard Ferguson, Woody Herman and Freddie Hunnard.
